His Excellency, Mr. Alamine OUSMANE MEY, Minister of Finance and Chair of the EITI Committee presided at an important Committee meeting on May 31 2017 with the focus on the second validation of Cameroon.

Prominent on the agenda were the following points:

1.    examination and adoption of the 2017-2019 work plan and the accompanying budget;

2.    preparation of the upcoming validation

3.    miscellaneous.

Their Excellencies, Mr. Ernest NGWABOUBOU, Minister of Mines and Mr. ELUNG Paul CHE, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance took part in this meeting alongside Committee and Technical Secretariat members as well as development partners.

During deliberations, participants validated the draft version of the 2017-2019 work plan which while laying emphasis on the Cameroonian extractive sector, includes the orientations of the 2016 EITI Standard especially the beneficial ownership and open data domains. With the second validation that begun on July 1st 2017 at the centre of this work plan, the Committee in this session gave particular attention to:

-          the commencement of the 2015 conciliation;

-          the revision of the decree on the functioning of the Committee;

-          the implementation of the roadmaps on beneficial ownership and open data policy.

The adopted 2017-2019 work plan with the accompanying budget are available on the website of the EITI Committee (www.eiticameroon.org) in English and French.


Ad hoc groups were set up by the Committee to continue the implementation of the above-mentioned roadmaps.
